Growing Traits
Fetească Albă is a vigorous vine with average fertility, requiring careful handling. It is an early variety, needing about 150-160 days of vegetation and relatively low temperatures, making it suitable for northern regions. The grape is frost-resistant and has a high sugar accumulation potential, which can reach up to 270g/l in cases of over-ripening.
Light to medium-bodied with a balanced profile, emphasizing its moderate acidity and delicate fruit flavors. Typically dry or semi-dry, focusing on its natural fruitiness with minimal residual sugar. Negligible tannins, as it is a white wine variety, resulting in a smooth and clean palate. Moderate acidity, providing a refreshing character suitable for various wine styles, including still and sparkling wines. Moderate alcohol content, typically ranging between 11.5% and 12%, ensuring balance and drinkability.
Fetească Albă wines are characterized by delicate aromas of white flowers and green apples, with hints of herbs. On the palate, they offer clean and crisp flavors of green apples, citrus, and a touch of minerality, with a refreshing acidity that makes them easy to drink.
Fetească Albă's moderate acidity and delicate fruit flavors make it an excellent match for light dishes such as poultry, fish, and salads. It pairs well with fresh cheeses and can complement dishes with subtle herbal notes. The wine's versatility allows it to accompany both traditional Romanian cuisine and international dishes.
