Frontenac Blanc is a white-fruited mutation of the red Frontenac grape, first observed in Quebec in 2005 and officially introduced in 2012. Developed by the University of Minnesota, it is part of the Frontenac family, which includes Frontenac (red) and Frontenac Gris (pink/gray). This variety has gained popularity among cold-climate grape growers and winemakers for its resilience and versatility.

Growing Traits
Frontenac Blanc is a vigorous and productive vine, known for its exceptional cold hardiness, surviving temperatures as low as -30°F (-34°C). It is highly resistant to downy mildew and moderately resistant to powdery mildew and botrytis. The grape exhibits high acidity and sugar levels, offering versatility in producing various wine styles.
Light to medium-bodied with a crisp and refreshing profile, showcasing its bright acidity and fruit-forward character. Typically dry, though off-dry and sweet styles are also produced, highlighting its versatility. Negligible tannins, as it is a white wine variety, resulting in a smooth and clean palate. High acidity, contributing to its crispness and suitability for various wine styles, including still, sparkling, and dessert wines. Moderate alcohol content, typically ranging between 11% and 13%, ensuring balance and drinkability.
